Chapter 12

“Goblins are only a problem when they’re in a hoard.” OF COURSE THEY’RE IN A HOARD!

 

The goblins are actually some of my favorite creatures… mainly because I based them off my dog. The description for the goblins reads:

“Each of them had a "at nose and two small, cat-like ears folded atop their head. Their wide mouths were accentuated by two deep wrinkles on each side, revealing their jagged teeth.”

 

I mean, what other dog could this describe if not a pug!?

 

This is my goblin inspiration - currently my dog is 15 years old and, in a hoard, could 100% still take Max down

I specifically wanted to commission a scene from this chapter because it’s our first big fight scene. This chapter sets the tone and risk level for the rest of the book. I love how the artist shadowed the goblins in the background and made the scene tense. Plus, don’t Rylan, Calvo and Max look great in attack mode?
