Chapter 16
Chapter 16 Fun Facts:
-
I based the imps on a culmination of RPG game creatures as well as the dark imp card from Yugioh!
-
I love that the fairies are gorgeous and dangerous, it was one of the things that stayed constant throughout all revisions. I love the idea that these cute cherubic fairies that are depicted in stories can also put a bullet through your head.
-
I love how Leona remembers Max. He fought alongside her and saved her, which caused the memories to resurface. There are times where I am doing the most mundane thing and a memory from my childhood will resurface that I totally forgot about.
-
I wanted Calvo’s departure to be swift and completely intentional by the imps. This imp had its claws latched inside of this man and as the shield pushed them out, he went with them.
-
Calvo’s departure gives Max another drive to save everyone because of the connection they have
-
Leona being kicked out of the garden is reminiscent of parents kicking their kids out of the house for being LGBT+. She admitted who she was and they didn’t accept her. Now she vows to save the fairy girls in order to gain their acceptance, which is how many teens feel when this happens to them. Even if we recognize this toxic behavior, we are just looking for their acceptance and love
Meet Leona:
-
Leona is my grounded character. She’s always level headed (until Rylan makes her mad) and will stay calm in stressful situations. Leona may go hunting with her father, but she also crafts jewelry. I see her as almost a motherly/big sister figure to Max. She is fiercely loyal — you don’t mess with her people!
-
I based Leona’s appearance on Shay Mitchell and Naya Rivera
-
Her favorite food is a crisp chicken caesar salad
-
Her zodiac sign is Leo and her personality matches
-
Leona is part of the LGBT+ community, although it is not revealed in Book 1
-
Her favorite flavor is black cherry
-
Her favorite color is purple
-
If she were to play a sport, it would be field hockey… hitting other girls with sticks? She’s in!
